Effective Communication for Oral Health Professionals

"Effective Communication for Oral Health Professionals" is a video series that highlights skills and techniques used to effectively engage with patients and help them make oral health behavior changes by encouraging them to become designers of their own oral health care. Effective Communication, based in the principles of Motivational Interviewing, promotes trust and collaboration between care team and caregiver/patient and is a foundational skill of person-centered care. It fosters engagement and empowers the caregiver/patient to make effective day-to-day behavior modifications that impact their overall oral health. These videos, focused in the clinical environment, are for all health team members who engage with patients about oral health. They were designed by Dr. Matt Allen, a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT).
