National: Support to the School-Based Health Alliance (SBHA) to lay the groundwork for launching an Oral Health Learning Collaborative that will help local oral health advocacy networks in the nations ten largest school districts strengthen their capacity and expertise, and build a sustainable infrastructure to promote oral health integration in schools. In Year I of this initiative, SBHA will develop a panel of project experts to serve as advisors and content experts for the learning collaborative, conduct the comprehensive environmental scan needed to determine each targeted school districts capacity and readiness to participate effectively in the proposed collaborative, and establish a framework and curriculum for the learning collaborative, which will be pilot-tested early in Year II. By participating in the learning collaborative, local networks will be better able to advocate for the changes in policy and practice that enable oral health services to be delivered to underserved students in their districts. $399,146 will be used to support personnel time to perform the environmental scan and to build the learning collaborative infrastructure and curriculum; travel and meeting expenses; consultant services; and other direct and indirect costs associated with the implementation of this work. The proposal aligns with the Oral Health 2020 Oral Health incorporated into the primary education system of incorporating oral health into primary education system and the target of having 10 largest school districts incorporate oral health into their systems.
