Grant Project Title
Driving Oral Health Transformation in Maine's Safety Net
Grantee Address

Maine Primary Care Association
73 Winthrop Street
Augusta, ME
United States

This investment supports the Maine Primary Care Association (MPCA) to advance person-centered value-based care in Maine by integrating oral health into primary care and expanding the adult dental benefit in Medicaid. As advocate partners in Maine pursue expanding benefits, MPCA will play a key role by providing trainings, technical assistance, data, and a readiness assessment to support community health centers working to integrate oral health care into new models of care and financing. This work aligns with the DentaQuest Partnership’s priorities to pursue person-centered models of care and expand access to public adult dental benefits, and MPCA has been active in the National Oral Health Innovation and Integration Network since 2015. In the coming year, MPCA will hire a full-time staff person to focus on oral health issues, using the readiness assessment completed to provide additional trainings and capacity building. They will also participate in a stakeholder group making recommendations for design of a comprehensive Medicaid adult dental benefit. $95,000 will support staff time, travel, convenings, and other materials.
