Magic Tooth Bus is a mobile dentistry non-profit organization that provides oral health care curriculum and preventative services to children and families in the San Francisco area. They are working to strengthen partnerships with public schools and community health centers to provide more options for treatment, particularly for low-income families. They also work to meet patients where they are, reducing the transportation barrier to care, and they now have trusted relationships with the communities they serve. The mobile clinic visits schools, low-income housing apartments, community centers, and places of work. Their main functions are oral health education, preventative services including dental screenings and fluoride treatments, scheduling appointments, and distributing oral health kits. Their dental program also includes support for families in navigating and applying for affordable dental insurance, like Medi-Cal.

This investment, through the Community Response Fund, is to support repair costs for Magic Tooth Bus’s two dental chairs and operatories. Their mobile unit is equipped with two dental operatories that are in need of repair in order to be at max capacity and efficiency. Repair needs for their dental chairs, which are over 19 years old, include replacement parts like handpiece tubing, air/water syringe, and overhead light bulbs. These replacement parts would bring their operations back to full capacity and efficiency in order to better serve their patients. The total budget request of $4,480 would go directly toward the replacement parts for the repairs.
