Vision y Compromiso (VyC) is a non-profit organization in California that works with a network of Promotoras and Community Workers based in 14 regions of California and Nevada and represents the collective voice of over 4,000 promotoras throughout California and a growing number of states.

This proposal is to support Vision y Compromiso’s 19th annual conference titled “Promotoras United in Hope and Love Towards a Healthy and Dignified Life.” The conference will take place virtually on October 7-9th, 2021. The conference objectives include creating a space for learning and increased capacity among promotoras and other community workers, facilitating networking and shared best practices, advocating for the Promotora model as a vehicle for community development and transformation, and strengthening the promotora and community-based health workforce movement locally, statewide, and nationally. The conference will include plenaries, workshops, facilitated networking, and online social activities to help participants gain skills, knowledge, and common language needed to build relationships with families, share information and resources, and improve community health and wellness. Workshop topics will address community outreach strategies, moving beyond COVID-19, preventing chronic disease, access to health care services, and many others. We have supported this conference for the past several years, and VyC was also one of our grantees in the Grassroots Led Organizations initiative. The budget of $10,000 will go towards general costs to run the conference.
