West Virginia Health Right is a free clinic in Charleston, WV that serves 34 counties. The organization has dental clinic as well as a mobile dental clinic that travels to rural sites in the area. The clinic serves individuals who are uninsured or underinsured and are often low-income and lacking transportation to appointments. West Virginia has high disparities in health and oral health, including access to dental services and high rates of chronic oral health issues. The state is currently ranked 47th in dentists per capita.

This investment, through the Community Response Fund, is to support funding to replace the West Virginia Health Right’s current Panorex machine. The current equipment is over 12 years old and has been using a replacement part to keep the machine running temporarily, but it is not a permanent solution. This equipment is necessary to provide services as it is used for x-rays as well as screenings for oral cancer, and other diseases. The budget of $24,377 would go towards machine cost, including installation and IT services.
