This investment is to support that helps distribute money for immediate relief for people being impacted by both COVID and the Pacific wildfires in rural Oregon. As a result of both COVID-19 and the wildfires, many of the families served by Unete have been displaced and without the means to address their immediate health and housing needs. In one of the most impacted school districts, over 45% of the student body is now homeless and there are now 200 families living in hotels. In Unete’s work directly with these families, they are seeing and hearing people putting off needed dental and medical care due to the inability to pay because of a loss of income and employment due to COVID-19. Additionally, they are seeing high rates of mental health issues. This investment is $35,000 and is to get supplies to displaced families, providing financial assistance to families with urgent dental care needs, and to provide some mental health services.
