It provides insights into individual patients and larger populations, informs financial and staff performance decisions, and enhances efficiency and effectiveness. Data also facilitates the use of alternative payment models, an emerging trend in oral health.
This foundational course will examine common health data sources and how they measure care quality, monitor health outcomes, and guide decision-making. We’ll also discuss the importance of high-quality data. After reviewing common barriers and promising solutions for collecting and using integrated, equitable data, this course will conclude with a review of data privacy and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
