Description

Oral health needs change throughout the lifespan — often becoming more complex with age, chronic conditions, or functional limitations. These changes call for personalized, person-centered care that promotes optimal health outcomes, disease prevention, and quality of life.

Join CareQuest Institute and Massachusetts General Hospital’s Lunder-Dineen program for a webinar that explores the importance of routine oral health care in supporting aging and medically complex patients. Our expert panel will define and discuss long-term care in the oral health context, identify common barriers older adults face in accessing care, and highlight actionable strategies oral health teams can implement in their daily work by drawing on the success of the Lunder-Dineen MOTIVATE program.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the relationship between oral health and overall health, including the elevated risk of oral disease in older adults.
  • Identify the role care partners/givers and other members of the interprofessional team across care settings have in promoting oral health for older adults.
  • Describe programs devoted to teaching care partners and health care professionals about older adult’s oral health. Develop an action plan to improve care for older adults.
